NSE moves N3.24 bln worth of shares in bullish trading

Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday maintained the bullish trend on Tuesday with the All-Share Index crossing the 37,000 mark. The index grew by 224.83 points or 0.61 per cent to close at 37,014.13 against 36,789.30 achieved on Monday.

Similarly, the market capitalisation rose by N72 billion or 0.61 per cent to close at N11.722 trillion from N11.650 trillion recorded on Monday. Nestle topped the gainers’ table with N6 to close at N1,000 per share. Dangote Cement came second on the gainers’ list, appreciating by N4 to close at N189, while CAP increased by N2.41 to close at N51.41 per share. Flour Mills grew by N2.01 to close at N85, while Lafarge WAPCO advanced by N2 to close at N98 per share.

Conversely, GlaxoSmithKline recorded the highest price loss, dropping N6.70 to close at N60.30 per share. Guinness lost N4 to close at N251, while Portland Paint declined by 72k to close at N6.50 per share. Ashaka Cement dropped 60k to close at N25.20, while Unilever declined by 50k to close at N58 per share. In all, investors staked N3.24 billion on 289.25 million shares in 5,419 deals against 188.54 million shares worth N2.1 billion achieved in 4,085 deals on Monday. Resortsal was investors’ delight with exchange of 34.40 million shares valued at N17.20 million. Transcorp accounted for 33.28 million shares worth N45.43 million, while GTBank recorded a total of 19.80 million shares valued N506.74 million.
