The NSE All-Share Index gained 56bps at the close of trading today. The banking sector remained on the up-tick, as participants sought to take positions before the release of FY numbers by companies in the sector. On the contrary, institutional sales at close of proceedings shaved off 0.7 per cent from GTBank, the lone loser in the sector today. Support at N14.00 should however curb further losses. Zenith Bank, First Bank and UBA all closed with unsatisfied demand, booking gains in excess of 4.0 per cent apiece. Adverse reactions by participants trailed the FY 2011 results announced by Nestle, with a 2.9 per cent dividend yield. Current sentiments turned bearish and subsequently slashed off 4.8 per cent from its price; closing offers also suggest that this trend could continue tomorrow. Cadbury, Dangote Sugar and Honeywell Flour also headed south, with losses ranging from 0.1 per cent to 4.7 per cent. Profit taking shaved off 4.9 per cent from Eterna Oil at the close of the session. Bearish sentiments also trimmed off maximum points from MRS Oil, while Oando rallied with a 2.1 per cent gain.
