NGX All-Share Index extends gains, up 1.51%

Nigerian equities delivered a positive performance and extended gains from the previous session as the All-Share Index rose 1.51%, the most since 30 December 2022, to close at 54,413.21 points. . Investors interest in telco heavyweight, MTNN (+8.89%) as well as ZENITHBANK (+0.78%) and GTCO (+1.39%) were the primary drivers of the overall market’s strong performance. Despite the gain, the market remains on track for a weekly loss. As a result, the ASI’s year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 6.17%, while the market capitalization gained ₦440.93bn to close at ₦29.64trn.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 29.71%. A total of 973.64m shares valued at ₦4.23bn were exchanged in 3,718 deals. TRANSCORP (+0.00%) led the volume chart with 455.53m units traded, while FIDELITYBK (+0.19%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦746.82m.

Market breadth closed positive at a 2.22-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering declining ones. OANDO (+9.98%) topped nineteen (19) others on the leader’s log, while PZ (-5.88%) led eight (8) others on the laggard’s table.
