He said the country will soon start paying down $37 trillion in debt. “People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS! We are now the Richest, Most Respected Country in the World, With Almost No Inflation, and A Record Stock Market Price,” Trump wrote.

The president also said a “dividend” of at least $2,000 would be paid to everyone, not including “high income people.” Trump’s comments come after the Supreme Court heard arguments last week over his authority to impose tariffs through executive orders. The tariffs have caused some prices to rise, as companies try to offset their costs, and inflation in August remained higher than the Federal Reserve’s target of 2%, according to the Associated Press.
