Performance across the sectors under our coverage was mixed as 3 indices gained, 1 lost, while the AFR-ICT and Oil & Gas indices closed flat. The Banking index led the gainers, up 0.7% due to price appreciation in FBNH (+3.1%) and UBA (+1.9%). Similarly, the Consumer and Industrial Goods indices rose 0.1% apiece on the back of bargain hunting in INTBREW (+1.1%), VITAFOAM (+0.3%), and WAPCO (+1.5%). Meanwhile, the Insurance index declined 1.2% due to sell-offs in MANSARD (-5.2%), AIICO (-2.1%), and WAPIC (-2.1%).
Investor sentiment, as measured by market breadth (advance/decline ratio), strengthened to 1.2x from 0.9x as 23 stocks advanced while 20 stocks declined. UPL (+9.9%), PRESCO (+5.9%), and CHAMS (+4.8%) led the gainers while BOCGAS (-9.9%), CAVERTON (-9.7%), and MANSARD (-5.2%) led the losers.
