The market capitalisation of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) rose by N4 billion or 0.04 per cent on Thursday, as major stocks recorded price gains. Due to the price gains, the market capitalisation closed higher at N11.52 trillion from the N11.51 trillion recorded on Wednesday. Also, the All-Share Index, which opened at 36,143.55, appreciated by 14.49 points to close at 36,158.04.
Total led the gainers’ chart by N5, to close at N157.01 per share. Unilever followed by N2.61, to close at N60.61 per share, while PZ Cussons grew by 50k to close at N37.50 per share. UAC-Properties appreciated by 48k to close at N15.70, while NASCON rose by 37k to close at N11.70 per share. On the other hand, Nestle led the losers’ chart by N10.97, to close at N990.03 per share.
Presco depreciated by N3.70 to close at N33.30 per share, while CAP lost N2.07, to close at N37 per share. UACN dipped by N1.01 to close at N57.99 per share, while Jos International Breweries fell by 54k, to close at N4.86 per share. Transcorp emerged as the most traded stock, accounting for 43.51 million shares worth N64.92 million. Wema Bank followed by 38.19 million shares valued at N35.53 million, while Access Bank exchanged 34.32 million shares worth N340.96 million.
In all, investors exchanged a total of 314.27 million shares worth N2.9 billion in 4,707 deals. This was against the 294.69 million shares valued at N2.6 billion, traded in 4,241 deals on Wednesday.
