The Nigeria Stock Exchange All-Share Index gained 119 bps today. Last minute purchases led to a 4.9 per cent increase in the share price of Diamond Bank; a hold back on offers could lead to a further surge. First Bank and Access Bank also rallied with gains of 3.6 per cent and 3.4 per cent respectively. On the flip side, Wema Bank and Union Bank recorded losses of 3.5 per cent and 4.9 per cent respectively. Growing demand for NB during the session firmed up its price by 5.0 per cent; it subsequently closed at N98.76. Other companies in the sector however recorded no change at the close of the session. The conglomerates sector was also on the upbeat as PZ Cussons, Transcorp and UACN recorded respective gains of 5.0 per cent, 3.3 per cent and 1.0 per cent.
