NGX end week on positive note

Closing the week, the domestic bourse ended the session on a positive note, bringing the All-Share index up by 0.42% to close at 49,706.09 points, the highest point since 5 September. Buying interests in ZENITHBANK (+1.87%), GTCO (+1.35%), WAPCO (+4.45%) and FBNH (+2.16%) kept the market in the green. Consequently, having gained in all five trading sessions this week, the ASI closed 0.79% higher w/w, its sixth consecutive weekly gain.

Over the course of the week, strong performances in BUAFOODS (+2.52% w/w), ZENITHBANK (+1.87% w/w), GTCO (+7.42% w/w), WAPCO (+4.45% w/w) and FBNH (+8.26% w/w) were sufficient to keep the market in the positive terrain. Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 16.36%, while the market capitalisation gained ₦212.31bn w/w to close at ₦27.07trn.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 27.87%. A total of 140.37m shares valued at ₦4.02bn were exchanged in 2,063 deals. UPDCREIT (+3.45%) led the volume chart with 50.39m units traded, while MTNN (+0.00%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦1.75bn. Market breadth closed positive at a 3.11-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering declining ones. GEREGU (+10.00%) topped twenty-seven (27) others on the gainer’s log, while CHAMS (-4.35%) led eight (8) others on the laggard’s table.
