NGX All-Share Index slips by 0.19%

Today, the local bourse reversed the three-day winning streak as the All-Share Index closed 0.19% weaker to close at 59,211.26 points. GTCO (-1.56%) , WAPCO (-0.34%) and UBA (-1.31%) drove the market’s weak performance outweighing gains in MTNN (+0.19%), ZENITHBANK (+0.16%) and GEREGU (+1.69%). Nevertheless, the market remains on track for another weekly gain. Consequently, the ASI’s year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 15.53%, while the market capitalization lost ₦61.36bn to close at ₦32.24trn.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 8.38%. A total of 615.91m shares valued at ₦6.62bn were exchanged in 7,459 deals. WAPIC (+9.30%) led the volume chart with 97.15m units traded while GTCO (-1.56%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦1.10bn.

Market breadth closed negative at a 1.05-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. LASACO (-10.00%) topped twenty-one (21) others on the laggard’s log, while NEM (+10.00%) led twenty (20) others on the leader’s table.
