Selloff in STANBIC (-8.77%), TRANSCORP (-3.29%), and FIDELITYBK (-9.72%) offset the gains in ZENITHBANK (+0.30%), FBNH (+1.11%) and UBA (+0.96%) leaving the index in the red. Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return slipped to 32.58%, while market capitalisation lost ₦84.58bn to close at ₦56.08trn.
With regards to market analysis, turnover settled higher relative to the previous session with the value of transactions up by 10.74%. A total of 309.81m shares valued at ₦5.39bn were exchanged in 6,765 deals. FIDELITYBK (-9.72%) led the volume chart with 49.20m units traded, while GUINNESS (+0.20%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦975.58m.
Predictably, market breadth closed negative at a 0.94-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering the advancing ones. MAYBAKER (-10.00%) topped seventeen (17) others on the laggard’s table while OANDO (+9.77%) led sixteen (16) others on the leader’s log.
