Having gained in four out of five trading sessions this week, the ASI closed 4.24% higher w/w.
Over the course of the week, strong performances in BUAFOODS (+15.54% w/w), ZENITHBANK (+2.38% w/w) , and DANGSUGAR (+4.92% w/w) drove the market’s positive performance, outweighing losses in MTNN (-0.70% w/w), FIDELITYBK (-5.63% w/w), and GUINNESS (-1.64% w/w). Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 11.06%, while the market capitalization gained ₦1.85trn w/w to close at ₦45.44trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down by 36.88%. A total of 600.63m shares valued at ₦9.10bn were exchanged in 11,697 deals. TRANSCORP (+3.36%) led the volume chart with 54.44m units traded while ACCESSCORP (-0.53%) led the value chart with deals worth ₦1.27bn.
Market breadth closed positive at a 2.42-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering the declining ones. MBENEFIT (+10.00%) topped forty-five (45) others on the leader’s table while IMG (-9.15%) led eighteen (18) others on the laggard’s log.
