NGX All-Share Index ends the week positive, up 0.94% w/w

Closing the week, the Lagos bourse ended the session on a positive note, bringing the All-Share index up by 0.05% to close at 70,854.18 points. Buying interests in ACCESSCORP (+0.29%), ETI (+3.23%), and FCMB (+9.38%) offset selloffs in GTCO (-0.56%), DANGSUGAR (-0.65%) and UBA (-0.24%) kept the market in the positive terrain. Having gained in all five trading sessions this week, the ASI closed 0.94% higher w/w.

Over the course of the week, strong performances in BUACEMENT (+6.47% w/w), SEPLAT (+3.94% w/w), and GTCO (+1.56% w/w) drove the market’s positive performance, outweighing losses in ZENITHBANK (-2.79% w/w), STANBIC (-6.73% w/w), and DANGSUGAR (-0.96% w/w). Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 38.25%, while the market capitalisation gained ₦370.80bn w/w to close at ₦38.93trn.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down by 66.87%. A total of 556.70m shares valued at ₦5.56bn were exchanged in 6,308 deals. JAPAULGOLD (+8.20%) led the volume chart with 164.73m units traded, while UBA (-0.24%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦1.28bn.

Market breadth closed positive at a 2.20-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering declining ones. VFDGROUP (+9.97%) led twenty-one (21) others on the leader’s log while CUTIX (-3.93%) topped nine (9) others on the laggard’s table.
