NGX All-Share Index ends the perfect week up 2.92% w/w

Ending the perfect week, the local equities closed the session stronger, bringing the All-Share index up by 1.43% to settle at 60,968.27 points. Telco heavyweights, AIRTELAFRI (+4.75%) and MTNN (+2.32%), alongside ZENITHBANK (+0.74%) were the primary drivers of the market’s strong close, outweighing losses in DANGCEM (-0.87%), WAPCO (-1.34%) and FCMB (-4.49%). Notably, having gained in all three (3) trading sessions this week, the ASI closed 2.92% higher w/w, extending gains for the sixth consecutive week.

Over the course of the week, strong bullish sentiment in index heavyweights, AIRTELAFRI (+4.19 w/w), MTNN (+2.98% w/w), and BUACEMENT (+2.50% w/w) offset losses in DANGCEM (-0.87% w/w), FBNH (-1.45% w/w) and FLOURMILL (-1.16% w/w). Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 18.96%, while the market capitalisation gained ₦961.10tn w/w to close at ₦33.20tn.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 27.30%. A total of 998.08m shares valued at ₦15.96bn were exchanged in 10,580 deals. ACCESSCORP (+5.06%) led the volume and value charts with 255.06m units in deals worth ₦4.15bn. Market breadth closed positive at a 3.73-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering declining ones. PZ (+10.00%) topped forty (40) others on the leader’s log, while CORNERST (-9.09%) led ten (10) others on the laggard’s table.
