NGX All-Share Index closes the week positive, up 0.22%

Today, the domestic bourse slipped as the benchmark index closed 0.10% weaker at 65,198.08 points. Gains in ZENITHBANK (+1.49%), GTCO (+0.28%) and FBNH (+0.27%) were offset by selloffs in MTNN (-1.07%), ACCESSCORP (-2.01%) and UBA (-1.05%) keeping the market in the negative terrain. Having gained in two (2) out of five (5) trading sessions this week, the ASI closed 0.22% higher w/w.

During the week, strong performances across MTNN (+1.84% w/w), ZENITHBANK (+0.29% w/w) and WAPCO (+4.09% w/w) were sufficient to offset the selloffs in BUAFOODS (-2.03% w/w), GTCO (-1.75% w/w) and STANBIC (-6.47% w/w). As a result, the year-to-date (YTD) return slipped to 27.21%, while the market capitalization gained ₦77.10bn w/w to close at ₦35.48trn.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 19.39%. A total of 363.15m shares valued at ₦6.07bn were exchanged in 6,644 deals. TRANSCORP (-1.32%) led the volume chart with 29.28m units traded while MTNN (-1.07%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦1.37bn. Market breadth closed flat. GLAXOSMITH (+9.88%) led twenty-two (22) others on the leader’s table while ETERNA (-9.83%) topped twenty-two (22) others on the laggard’s log.
