Nigerian content development and monitoring board, NCDMB, said it is committed to ensuring that Nigeria produces the best local content in the global market especially in the oil and gas sector of the economy. The board reiterated its commitment at a kickoff ceremony for the trellborg export hose and accessories for Engina FPSO for 14 trainers by TotalEnergies and Fairtex group in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital. Engr Felix Omatsola Ogbe, executive secretary of NCDMB said that human capital development is not just a policy but “a strategic pillar of 10-year road map aimed at positioning Nigeria as a global model in local content develoment”. Represented at the training event by the Supervisor, human capital development, Samuel Joseph, Ogbe said that the board will not relent in the pursuit of excellence and “will not stop until our mandate to make Nigerian content the best in the world is fully realized”. He charged the 14 successfully selected trainees not to see their selection as a reflection of merit but a vote of confidence in their potentials to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s energy future, adding that, “This is a privilege and with it comes great responsibility”.
Ogbe charged the trainees to brace up for the challenges ahead of them as they would be equipped with fundamental technical skills, work ethics, discipline and the industry orientation necessary to thrive in the dynamic oil and gas sector. “I urge you to take this seriously, be curious, be disciplined , and most of all, be intentional about learning and growing”, he charged them. On her part, the representative of Fairtex group, Mrs Iniette Jacobs said the trainees will at the end of the 12 months training be well equipped to make positive impact in the Nigerian oil and gas sector, adding that they would be exposed to the nitty gritty of the critical sector.
Responding on behalf of the trainees, Jackson Abraham said as a computer engineer, the trellborg hose training will position them to become useful to their families and the country in general. He thanked the organizers: TotalEnergies and Fairtex group for putting the programme together which is well.monitored by the NCDMB for young Nigerians.
In his remarks on behalf of the trainees, Jackson Abraham thanked TotalEnergies and Fairtex group for putting up the training programme and finding them worthy to be selected amongst hundreds of young people who applied for this opportunity. “I am very grateful for this opportunity. As a computer engineer, I see myself and my colleagues well positioned for a better future after this one year training”, he said.
