NASS Service Commission appoints Tambuwal Acting Clerk

National Assembly Service Commission, NASC has approved the appointment of Magaji Sani Tambuwal as the acting Clerk to the National Assembly, NSA. The appointment of Tambuwal, the erstwhile Secretary of Finance and Accounts, has ended days of anxieties and confusion on the sensitive issue of CNA. His  appointment is also  coming after the former Clerk, Arc. Ojo Olatunde Amos went on compulsory retirement leave last Monday. In a statement yesterday in Abuja by the Executive Chairman of NASC, Engr Ahmed Kadi Amshi,  Amos will  continue to work with the acting Clerk to the National Assembly,  Tambuwal until his retirement date of 14th February, 2023 in order to ensure the success of the ongoing 2023 Appropriation Bill’s processing that should be transmitted by only the substantive Clerk to the National Assembly in  accordance with the provisions of the law.

The statement issued by Amshi, listed other appointees to include: Ogunlana Kamoru who was Secretary of Legal Services now elevated to the position of acting Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly (DCNA). Also, Mrs Henrietta Aimua-Ehikioya, former Secretary of Special Duties, now redeployed as Secretary of Legal Services. Birma Shuaibu, the Director, Legislative, is now the acting Secretary of the Human Resources Directorate. Also, Umoru Barde Ali, Director, Pharmacy, has been appointed the acting Secretary of Research and Information while Omogbehin Yomi, Director, Legislative is now the acting Secretary, Special Duties. According to the statement, Inyang Clement Titus, Director of Accounts, is now the acting Secretary of Finance and Accounts. Nwoba Andrew, Director, Admin is now the acting Secretary of Planning and Legislative Budget. The  NASC executive chairman said, “The appointments were sequel to the approval by the Commission of a memorandum presented by the Committee on Establishment, Records and Training to the Commission on the need to fill existing vacancies in the National Assembly Management team. The Commission further resolved that the outgoing Clerk to the National Assembly, Arc. Ojo Olatunde Amos continues to work with the acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Sani Magaji Tambuwal until his retirement date of 14th February, 2023 in order to ensure the success of the ongoing 2023 Appropriation Bill’s processing that should be transmitted by only the substantive Clerk to the National Assembly accordance with the provisions of the Authentication Act, ” 

The statement reads “ The National Assembly Service Commission today( yesterday) approved the appointment of key officers to man the top Management team of the National Assembly bureaucracy. Mr. Sani Magaji Tambuwal, erstwhile Secretary of Finance and Accounts, has been appointed the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly. Others are: Mr. Ogunlana Kamoru, Secretary of Legal Services who is elevated to the position of Acting Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly (DCNA).
