Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened lower on Monday as the market capitalisation depreciated by N81 billion or 0.63 per cent following the losses recorded by major capitalised stocks.
The market capitalisation closed lower at N12.825 trillion from the N12.906 trillion recorded on Friday. Also, the All-Share Index, which opened at N39, 087.10, dropped by 362.95 points to close at N38, 724.15. Seplat led the losers’ chart by N28.7 to close at N545.3 per share. Nestle depreciated by N18 to close at N981 per share, while Mobil Oil lost N7.75 to close at N161.5 per share.
Total Oil dipped by N7 to close at N166 per share, while Guinness fell by N5.5 to close at N176.5 per share. On the other hand, 7UP led the gainers’ chart by N16.69 to close at N179.55 per share. PZ Cussons followed with a gain of 81k to close at N27.8 per share.
ETI grew by 24k to close at N18.5 per share, while Zenith Bank and Maybaker appreciated by 16k each to close at N22.75 and N1.87 per share, respectively.
Transcop emerged as the most traded stock, accounting for 41.18 million shares worth N203.76 million. Zenith Bank sold 19.163 million shares worth N428.91 million; while Access Bank traded 14.680 million shares valued at N124.97 million.
In all, investors exchanged a total of 241.691 million shares worth N3.87 billion in 4,434 deals. The volume of shares represented 15.84 per cent increase over the 208.6355 million shares valued at N3.84 billion traded in 4,040 deals on Friday.
