The market capitalisation of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) depreciated by N22 billion or 0.16 per cent on Monday, as major capitalised stocks recorded price losses. The market capitalisation closed lower at N13.686 trillion, from the N13.708 trillion recorded on Friday, June 13. Similarly, the All-Share Index, which opened at 41,517.10 dropped by 67.59 points to close at 41,449.51.
Lafarge Wapco led the losers’ chart by N1.94, to close at N108.06 per share.
Nigerian Breweries trailed with a loss of N1.64, to close at N173, while Stanbic IBTC depreciated by N1.07, to close at N24.83 per share. Glaxosmith dipped by N1.01 to close at N67, while ETI fell by 83k, to close at N15.87 per share.
On the other hand, 7-UP and Oando Oil led the gainers’ table by N1 each, to close at N91 and N21, respectively, per share.
Mobil followed with a gain of 94k, to close at N132 per share. Okomu Oil grew by 64k to close at N33.64, while Total Oil chalked up 51k, to close at N170.51 per share.
Transcorp emerged as the most-traded stock, accounting for 18.92 million shares worth N82.53 million. GTBank exchanged 16.04 million shares valued at N505.21 million, while Wapic Insurance sold 13.77 million shares worth N10.10 million. UBA accounted for 12.11 million shares valued at N96.95 million, while Access Bank traded 10.80 million shares worth N104.89 million.
In all, the volume of shares traded dropped by 15.47 per cent as investors exchanged a total of 182.084 million shares worth N1.96 billion in 4,517 deals. This was against the 215.417 million shares valued at N2.54 billion traded in 4,551 deals on Friday.
