A total of 136 Nigerian companies have registered with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the 7th Lagos International Trade Fair and have paid for space, sources at the chamber have revealed. According to the source, as at the close of business last Wednesday, September 30, 136 companies have registered.
The sources said that 10 foreign companies have also indicated their intention to participate in the fair but have not registered as at the close of business last Wednesday. The fair will hopefully kick off on November 6 and will end on 15 of the same month.
Commerce sources told The Republic that this year trade fair theme will be “Facing the Challenges of a changing World Economy”.
The sources further revealed that the focus will be on the international business environment. The fair will attempt to identify the favourable and unfavourable elements in the international business environment.
The sources also told The Republic that participating companies will benefit in that they will be able to explore the possibilities of turning into best advantage the gains of the fair. They will also help provide impetus for Nigeria’s economy of FEM and SAP.
According to the source, the principal objective of this year’s fair will be to afford participants the opportunity of identifying and exploring domestic and foreign market potentials in a changing world economy.
This will include the promotion and diversification of non-oil exports, attracting investment into the priority sectors of agriculture and manufacturing industry and adaptation of indigenous and modern technology for the optimum utilisation of available human and material resources.
