Gombe State House of Assembly have passed the 2024 Appropriation bill of ₦208 billion into law. Initially, the Gombe Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, presented a budget proposal of ₦ 207.7 billion to the State House of Assembly for approval and passage on December 12th ,2023 while the House approved ₦208 billion into law making about ₦300 million increment to address critical sectors in the state. Speaking on Friday at the signing ceremony in Gombe,the Speaker, State House of Assembly,Rt.Hon.Abubakar Luggerewo explained that the increment in the budget was to address some critical sectors for the benefits of the people of Gombe State. He added that capital expenditures took the highest share of the budget to enable the Governor complete ongoing projects and initial new laudable projects .
On December,12th, 2023, the Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya presented a proposed budget of sum of N207,750,200,000.00 which was made up of N87,250,200,000.00 for recurrent expenditure representing 42%, and N120,500,000,000.00 for capital expenditure, representing 58% of the total budgeted sum. The budget tagged as “Budget of Continuity and Consolidation,” was presented to the House to scrutinised with the desire to build on the first term achievements and consolidate on past gains and to improve the living standards of the people by the Governor. With the increment, the capital expenditures will take 70% of t share with emphasis on youths development, infrastructural facilities, and improve the living standards of the people in the state. Also, the Speaker commended the Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Salihu Baba Alkali for doggednes and dedication to ensure that the quick preparation of the budget which has presented in time.
Meanwhile, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya commended the cordially relationship between the three arms of Government that made it possible for the House to consider it as quickly as possible. He added that the dividends of democracy enjoyed in the state was based on sound, mutual and solidified relationship with the House since 4 years ago.
