Fresh winners that emerged this weekend at Skye Bank’s Reach for the Skye Millionaire Promo has praised the bank for creating a reward scheme they were sure would inspire Nigerians to rediscover the values of saving portions of their income. Speaking shortly after he was announced winner of the grand prize of N1million, at the live draw held at Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, Mr Bello Sarafa, an erstwhile staff at the Ota office of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria Plc., (PHCN)., expressed his delight that the culture of savings he has cultivated appears to have paid off and commended the Bank for initiating the savings promotion, saying the promo will enable the inculcation of the culture of savings especially among the younger generation. Sarafa who was full of joy when contacted over the phone to communicate to him his good fortune said with such an opportunity, he has got the motivation to even save more and urged the bank not to relent in his quest to encourage its customers to adopt the savings culture irrespective of the size of their income.
Also speaking, Ajarat Olabisi Yusuf, who hawks Agege Bread around the Ago Palace Way Okota Lagos and who won N100,000 at the draw, thanked Skye Bank for giving her the opportunity to get a reward from her savings and was convinced that with the money she just won, her small business will receive a boost that will even enable her save a lot more.
“I hawk bread around Ago and although my income is small, I make it a point to save a portion of my profits regularly so I can take care of my family and also grow my business. I thank Skye Bank for this opportunity that will positively impact my business while also increasing my monthly savings volume, Mrs Yusuf said. Earlier in his remarks at the occasion, Head, Retail Banking, Skye Bank, Mrs. Ayodele Olojede said Skye Bank’s Reach for the Skye Promo was carefully created as a platform to enable people ramp up savings and by so doing, plan for their future or grow their businesses.
Mrs. Olojede who reminded the gathering that businesses, especially small and medium businesses cannot grow and multiply if the owners and proprietors do not imbibe the discipline that makes savings compulsory, said the bank has decided to create such reward opportunities to ensure there is even motivation for Nigerians to save more. He said the bank will sustain its drive to reach the unbanked and the under-banked segments of the market, promising that Skye Bank will continue to inspire a spike in the savings culture of Nigerians through the savings promo and other mechanisms that ensure that monies multiply and savings grow.
The promotion has produced 40 millionaires while changing the lives of many other people who won other prize monies. In addition to the grand prize winner of N1 million, 20 other customers of the bank were rewarded with N20,000 during the draws, 10 customers won N50,000; while five others went home with N100,000 at the live draw.
