by Business News Report

Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) says it will support the Nigerian Export –Import Bank’s (NEXIM) maritime business (“Sea Link’’ initiative) to facilitate trade in the region. Mr. James Victor Gbeho, ECOWAS chairman gave the assurance at a meeting with the Bank in Abuja. “You have come to the right address, as I said and I will not take anything away from what I said, whatever lies within our power to do for you; we will do it to make sure that your company is started. We will do so because it is an indigenous West African company; secondly, because your objective of facilitating the transportation of persons, falls within the ECOWAS vision for this region of Africa and in line with our integration wishes.’’ Gbeho said that has ECOWAS began to refocus on people rather than on member states since 2007 so as to quickly integrate the economies and infrastructures of the member states and help the people to achieve goals together for the benefit of all.
