The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko, has summarily dismissed four officers for misconduct. Dikko said in a statement signed by the Deputy Public Relations Officer, Mr Joseph Attah, in Abuja that the officers were arrested by a military patrol team on July 13 in a beer parlor in Mabushi, Abuja, drinking alcohol and displaying fire arms.
It added that the officers were found in possession of fire arms when off duty and drinking alcohol while mingling with women of easy virtue at odd hours. The statement further said the officers conducted themselves in a manner that contradicted their calling as trained security officers.
“The new face of the NCS places high premium on discipline and professionalism. The dismissal represents my administration’s zero tolerance for indiscipline, abuse of office and intimidation of Nigerians who the officers were paid to protect,’’ it said. The statement listed the dismissed officers as ZaharadeenIshiaku, Mani Aminu, Mustapha Manir andYahya Abdullahi, all of the rank of Customs Assistant II.
