The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) says the commissioning, calibration and testing of NigeriaSat-2 and , launched in Aug. 17, 2011, has been completed. Dr Seidu Mohammed, the Director-General of NASRDA, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Friday in Abuja on the in-orbit test report on the two earth observation satellites.
He said that more than 142 images had been scheduled and downloaded from the satellite ground station in Abuja. “Having completed the commissioning, we are also happy to tell the nation that we have gone to the next stage of testing the capability of NigeriaSat-2 in area mosaic that captures the number of images. I am also happy to report that as part of the capability testing, we have also tested successfully the stripping and stereo imaging which are some of the special capabilities of NigeriaSat-2 Satellite,’’ he said .
