Capital market indices up by 0.24%

Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened on a bullish note on Monday as some major blue chips recorded price gains. Due to the price gains, the market indicators recorded 0.24 per cent growth. The All-Share Index also grew by 88.62 points or 0.24 per cent to close at 36, 337.15 from the 36,248.53 achieved on Friday. Besides, the market capitalisation, which opened at N11.49 trillion, increased by N28 billion or 0.24 per cent to close at N11.52 trillion. Unilever led the gainers’ chart by N3.80 to close at N61.50 per share. GlaxoSmithKline came second with N1.50 to close at N60 per share while PZ Cusson increased by N1.10 to close at N38.90 per share. International Breweries gained 98k to close at N21.60 while UBN share price appreciated by 70k to close at N11 per share. On the other hand, Lafarge Wapco recorded the highest price loss of N2.10 to close at N90.90 per share. It was followed by Ashaka Cement by N1 to close at N20 while Nigerian Breweries dipped by 82k to close at N164.18 per share.
Arbico dropped 55k to close at N5.05 while Presco lost 40k to close at N36.99 per share. In all, a total of 256.91 million shares worth N2.39 billion were bought by investors in 4,463 deals. This was against the 190.62 million shares valued at N2.58 billion traded in 4,164 deals on Friday. Arbico emerged as investors’ delight, accounting for 105.41 million shares worth N532.33 million. Transcorp sold 18.58 million shares valued at N25.52 million while Firs City Monument Bank traded 16.32 million shares worth N60.07 million.
