Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday in Lagos opened on a positive note with the All-Share Index rising by 0.41 per cent. The index which opened at 36,436.98 appreciated by 148.1 basis points or 0.41 per cent and closed at 36,585.08.
Also the market capitalisation grew by N47 billion or 0. 41 per cent to close at N11.65 trillion as against N11.61 trillion recorded on Friday.
The impressive result was due to the performances of some highly-capitalised stocks which recorded growth. Guinness recorded the highest price gain, leading with N12.70 to close at N266.70 per share. Forte Oil trailed at N1.69 to close at N37.39, while Nigerian Breweries grew by one naira to close at N165 per share.
Lafarge Wapco appreciated by 50k to close at N99 per share, while Total’s share price chalked up by 49k to close at N157.
On the other hand, Okomu Oil led the losers’ chart, losing N2.05 to close at N46 per share. Presco followed with 80k to close at N32.50 per share, while Oando lost 45k to close at N10.35 per share. Jos International Breweries also dropped 21k to close at N4.17 per share, while Livestock lost 18k to close at N3.72 per share. Investors exchanged 279.15 million shares worth N3.03 billion traded in 3,310 deals as against 269.88 million shares valued at N1.73 billion traded in 4,044 deals on Friday.
